Company:
James Music Products sorta kinda started in the late 80’s. At that time, the main product was a hum-reducing unit for single-coil based guitar pickups. The heart of that product was discontinued before any marketing could be done.
JMP went on hiatus until the mid-90s when an effort to jump on the “boutique tube amp” bandwagon. That effort lasted until the early 2000s which resulted in four amplifiers being built. However, the amps were “too little, too late” and the market had flown on by.
Another hiatus occurred until 2008 when product focus shifted to pedal-board oriented products, namely, utility pedals. A few prototypes were built in the mid-2010s and proofed in real world scenarios.
Yes, ANOTHER hiatus that included retiring from 45 years in the electronics industry and relocating to a different state in 2018.
From 2019 to present day, six products have been developed with a couple more “on the bench”.
Personal:
Dave James had his start in the early 50s, and quickly developed a love of music due to familial influence and, of course, The Beatles.
Multiple garage-bands were enjoyed in high school, with one or two attempts to engage in something more after returning from college.
At thirty-three, the “rock star” dream was retired. However…
With his new-found faith in Christ, playing now became “church-focused”.
Multiple musical genres, multiple exposure to professional players, multiple hours of practice, multiple “play dates”, multiple, multiple ensued.
All of that became the field from which the ideas for unique utility pedals sprouted.
With love of music, melded with 45 years of electronic background, his journey continues.
